Nominations Sought for Exceptional Elmhurst Volunteers
The Elmhurst City Council, commission on Youth, Senior Citizens Commission, and Character counts in Elmhurst will present the City of Elmhurst Character Counts Service Awards for Youth and Adults on May 28, 2008.
Nominations are currently accepted for volunteers who reside in Elmhurst and/or within District 205 boundaries. To receive a nomination form, call the City of Elmhurst at 630-530-3010 or visit one of the following web sites: www.elmhurst.org, click on "What's Hot" or www.charactercountsinelmhurst.org, click on "Coming Events/Activities." Nominations must be received no later than March 15, 2008.
The City of Elmhurst Character Counts Service Awards for Youth and Adults recognizes individuals who have demonstrated at least one of the following criteria through volunteer service: The level of involvement should demonstrate a commitment to the volunteer service rendered; The service should provide for the health and well being of the community at large; The service should promote the spirit of volunteerism.
Nominees must be at least 12 years of age and service must be voluntary and unpaid. The award is focused on individual achievement; however, individuals who perform community service as part of a group are eligible for nomination.
Award winners will be personally congratulated by Mayor Marcucci and members of the City Council at a reception to be held at Elmhurst College on May 28, 2008.
